SOB are a fusion of a multichannel platform and a record label with the aim of amplifying the smaller voices around Berlin’s celebrated electronic music and nightlife scene. The platform originally launched with a self-titled documentary released two years ago. The film showcased interviews with some of Berlin’s most prominent figures in the music and nightlife scene. The project has now been relaunched with several new features.

Today, SOB is a launchpad platform for the emerging voices of Berlin. Aside from Artefakt, who we’ve just spotlighted here on Quip, SOB also supports artists like Namito, Alinka, Dan Curtin, and a handful of others. Check out some of SOB’s playlists here on Spotify.

The group, consisting of MCs Ritchie With a T, Stepa J. Groggs, and producer Parker Corey are “the rap game Talking Heads with a Mystery Science Theater-like commentary on art and culture,” states the LP announcement press release. And admittedly, it’s hard to fight that statement. Their lyrics are challenging, music videos break down barriers, and live performances often take things to all kinds of new places. Earlier this year, for instance, Injury Reserve held an anti-listening party where the audience was forced to sit on bleachers to witness the album via a $20,000 sound system in a brightly lit white room.

Injury Reserve is on the road and we’ve partnered up with Live Nation NYC to get two lucky readers to the show in New York City’s Gramercy Theatre. Here’s how you can see them on the house:

This year Bestival is going to invade Canada’s Hanlan’s Point Beach, Toronto Island on June 12 and 13, 2015. Featuring performers from across the globe the line up announcement undoubtedly made waves across the province and beyond.

The festival has proven to be an “undisputed leader when it comes to off-the-wall production” in the UK and for the Canadian edition the organizers are promising more than just a festival, in their own words this is going to be “a creative wonderland.”  In the introduction Bank said they were beyond excited to take the festival outside of UK: “We’ve spent 12 years working up to this moment and are so proud to be teaming up with Toronto to launch the good ship that is Bestival overseas.”

The headliners are Florence and The Machine and NAS, who are both touring throughout the festival season with their return productions. What we are most excited for here at Quip is the subsequently following leftfield acts: Flume, Caribou, SBTRKT, ZHU, and Jamie XX, just to name a few.
