Watch Shabazz Palaces’ new series of concept music videos by TEAN

Shabazz Palaces are once again working with TEAN, directorial team from the stunning video for “Motion Sickness.” The newest releases are conjoined work for “Moon Whip Quäz” (feat. Darrius) music video from Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star as well as the video for “Julian’s Dream (ode to a bad)” from Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines.

The two videos work together. First one focuses on a slumber party during which a figure known as Quäz is summoned. In the “Julian’s Dream (ode to a bad)” Quäz meets and joins forces with lead protagonist, Dr. Julian, who’s on the mission to free the controversial bodyswap tech she invented.

Like most of Shabazz Palaces’ songs, and their accompanying videos, the work is thought provoking, strange, at times dark, and in many ways challenging music as a genre. The duo is undoubtedly ahead of their time. Up next for Palaceer Lazaro and Tendai “Baba” Maraire is a European and UK tour, let’s hope they come back to North America again soon.
