Vic Mensa announces new EP “Hooligans” and shares an insight into personal struggles

Vic Mensa earlier today announced the upcoming release of his new EP Hooligans on Decmber 14 via Roc Nation/Capitol Records. The EP will feature the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, G-Eazy, Charlie Wilson, Lil Herb, Jesse Rutherford and more. The first collaboration from the EP, “Reverse” feat G-Eazy, came out a little while back and is already climbing national charts.

“Growing up we referred to ourselves as the Hyde Park Hooligans, so with the EP I wanted to encapsulate energies that represented that experience as well as what’s going on in my life now, for better or for worse” says Mensa.

In anticipation of the new album Hooligans Vic Mensa shared a music video for “Dark Things.” Directed by Bobby Hannaford the song “touches on his own ongoing struggles with mental health and his rocky road to recovery.” Drawing on his own struggles Mensa also has been working with SaveMoneySaveLife foundation which works on establishing various programs aimed to uplift marginalized communities in Chicago. This community effort is one of many Mensa is pursuing in an effort to keep his home town strong and healthy, learn more on the foundation’s website.
