Governors Ball is back and headed to Queens
It’s 2023 and the Governors Ball is only a few months away from heading to a new home at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York.
The line-up this year features some of the biggest names in music right now. Two of the headliners include Kendrick Lamar fresh off having released his new album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers this past year and LIZZO who’s currently on tour promoting her latest album Special. Of course, these top mainstream artists will also be supported by some fabulous rising stars as well. Maude Latour an NYC-based artist who recently released a new EP called 001 will be taking the stage Sunday. Alexander 23 is another voice to look out for on Friday. He comes into this lineup fresh off having toured as John Mayer’s opener for his tour in 2022.
Although he’s not headlining, Lil Nas X will be a show you won’t want to miss. Also, coming in hot after finishing his first tour to promote his first album MONTERO in 2022, he’s proven he can put on quite a fantastic show. There’s no possible way he doesn’t bring all he has to offer and more for this New York City music festival.
The festival has also announced a partnership with the Queen’s Night Market, which if you’ve ever attended, you know the vendors range from large to small and they provide a variety of different, but always incredible cuisines. The market provides itself with representing and celebrating the cultural diversity and heritage of Queens and New York City as a whole. Last year’s Governors Ball line-up was rather rap heavy and had quite a few hyper-pop artists as the main features of 2022. This year the line-up feels quite balanced between the various musical genres. It will surely be three days in New York City that you won’t want to miss.
