EP Review: Grounders “Wreck of a Smile”
by Ange Joachimowicz
Toronto home grown music ensemble Grounders have received an array of positive reviews for their EP titled Wreck of a Smile released just weeks ago on March 12th.
There’s only one-way of describing it: dance dance dance. But not your typical coordinated, somewhat socially acceptable dance either. One beat, two beat, three beat and you’re gone. You’ve crossed over into a new dimension and your body is out of control jerking to the beat which also invites some gentle movements in between hand clapping and hair swaying.
This EP has an all around energetic feel weaving in and out of pure intensity and smooth melody. This five-man band can be expected to perform with vibrancy no different from their most recent music video “Grand Prize Drawl” – an explosion of colour in unison to the sound, the video explores nature. Switching from fast and slow motion while complimenting the music wonderfully, the stunning images depict a surreal rawness in a favourable red tone.
This 13 minutes, 62 seconds EP will not disappoint and will surely be worth breaking out those dusty dance moves reserved for the eyes of select few in your life. Remember to close your blinds and turn your phone to silent.
