MUTEK Montréal was always a big event, one that takes over the city with a wide range of music and artistic performances showcasing the best, and the strangest, of electronic music from around the world.

This year is no exception. This year MUTEK will run a little longer (August 24 – September 5) and will showcase over 250 artists across 100+ performances paired with 50 artworks and installations. Yes, this is big.

The free program will animate the streets and parks of Montréal and several cultural spaces through the Experience series on the Parterre du Quartier des spectacles and a hybrid exhibition, which will launch the festivities a few days early on Friday, August 20 at 8 pm at the Society for Arts and Technology.

Some of this year’s highlights are an ambient showcase from Echönymphia and YlangYlang, a techno spotlight from Debbie Doe [cover image] and OJPB, and a house performance by G L O W Z I and Gene Tellem. Attendees will also be able to see performances from several emerging artists from local communities including Bénédicte, Ellxandra, and RONY who will bring a breath of fresh air to wrap up the summer.

Each evening will close with a DJ set of the artists’ best productions and original compositions including Ouri, Martyn Bootyspoon and Jump Source (Priori & Patrick Holland) who will be joined by Toronto’s Ciel and Vancouver’s Yu Su.

The full program can be found here.

There is also a professional competent, MUTEK Forum, which will bring together over 140 speakers and a network of 700 experts from the music and creative industries.

Tickets are still on sale for the evenings at the Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle, at MTELUS and at the Society for Arts and Technology. All information on the artists and performances of the 22nd edition are available at montreal.mutek.org
