Winter is closing in, and the world’s coldest festival is turning up the heat once again. Igloofest Montréal returns to the Old Port from January 15 to February 7, 2026, ready to ignite the ice with a bold lineup of international icons and homegrown heroes. For nearly two decades, Igloofest has transformed the coldest months of the year into a reason to celebrate – a uniquely Canadian ritual that proves you can always throw an unforgettable party, no matter the conditions. What began as a wild idea in the snow has evolved into a global winter phenomenon, and the festival’s 18th edition promises four weekends of pure fire under the frost.

Igloofest Montréal 2026 is led by one of the festival’s biggest bookings to date: DJSnake, a global superstar and in-demand collaborator who has featured the likes of J Balvin, Travis Scott, Future, Selena Gomez, and more across his expansive catalogue. He’s one of the most influential French-speaking artists in the world, making an exclusive Canadian appearance with his signature fusion of global rhythms and festival anthems in tow.

He’ll be joined across Igloofest’s renowned Sapporo and Videotron stages by high-energy powerhouse duo SOFI TUKKER, Belgian rap icon Hamza, pioneering Canadian selector A-Trak, and versatile French standouts Madeon, The Blaze (DJ Set), and Trym. Highlights continue with the debut of an explosive new bass collaboration, Black Tiger Sex Machine & Kai Wachi: Skull Machine, the atmospheric stylings of Elderbrook (DJ Set), and a back-to-back meeting of legendary minds between techno titan and MOOD label boss Nicole Moudaber and Montréal trailblazer Misstress Barbara, who celebrates 30 years behind the decks.

Local highlights continue with two Montréal staples that embody the vitality of the city’s electronic scene: the Ferias collective with Alina B2B Guthrie, and Homegrown Harvest, spotlighting rising talents badgalquirit, donotstealmyname, and Traxence. Fans can also catch heat from DJ Smokey and Shadow Wizard Money Gang – the hyped, Skrillex-backed collective – plus local trance and acid techno favorite Cult Member, Montréal’s bass crew Musik Me Luv with Dick Lee, nad, and Pleurire, and the techno-forward collective OCTOV, featuring BitterCaress, KORVN, and Manolow.

Igloofest earned its name for a reason. Having experienced one of the coldest days of the festival so far at a chilly temperature of sub 30 degrees, it’s definitely worthy of its title – not to mention, a variety of creative ice sculptures installed throughout the festival grounds, such as the central bar construction for beverages and the very large and usable ice slide. Even this extremely cold weather has not put off those who like to have a good time in winter. On the contrary, the crowd grows fast in numbers and in momentum in front of both the Sapporo and Vidéotron Mobile stages.

The festival brings together the aural-visual experience in the most body-bumping way possible – sometimes even bumping into others on the floor. Both stages have DJs spinning simultaneously while VJs have their video work displayed on elaborate installation screens. I’ve had the pleasure of watching the video work of both Hugues Clément at the Vidéotron stage and Bobby Digital at the Sapporo stage.

The Vidéotron stage is enclosed by beautifully lit 3-foot-high ice-blue cube structures that illuminate the area. As it’s structured as such, being inside the area and watching Hugues Clément’s video work feels that much more intimate. Clément’s work merges both formalism and classicism elements, and because his theme creates this visual juxtaposition, the imagery moving to the beats makes the experience more provocative.

Over at the Sapporo stage, Bobby Digital presents his work using very clean and stimulating graphics of geometric forms in a colourful, repeated manner. Both house and techno beats spun by DJs Tazz and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs work well with Bobby Digital’s work and create a warming invitation to dance away the cold, which I certainly didn’t miss my chance to accept! Because the Sapporo stage is situated in the largest open space and has the largest video projection installation of the two stages, the crowd easily forms faster and so does the warmth.

Igloofest is the perfect way to break out of the winter blues and immerse in a wonderful time with spectacular visuals, music, and company. Just don’t forget to dance it out on the floor!

On Saturday night, Montreal beatmixer High Klassified stirred up the enthusiastic crowd at the Virgin Mobile Igloo with his hip-hop-infused electronic beats. Headliner Kenlo Craqnuques, another beatmixer who calls Montreal home, performed his signature experimental electronic/Soul/hip-hop. On the Sapporo stage, remixer and producer Josh Wink headlined. Wink has been performing since the ‘90s, and the hot, acid techno beats were just what the cold night at the Old Port called for.

This upcoming weekend at Igloofest features a number of local and international DJs, including Mathias Kaden, DJ Sneak, Josh Wink, Caspa, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, and many, many others. So grab your snowsuit onesie and get ready to get your party!

Right in the midst of the winter freeze, spreading musical mirth across an icy riverbank, you’ll find some of electronic music’s most talented heavy hitters sharing their beats with over 60,000 people decked out in outrageous one-piece snow suits.

For the mere price of $15 a head, the lineup is downright majestic. Just this past weekend, the party headlined with Max Cooper, Sébastien Léger and TIND. And if those names sound far from familiar, it’s time to do some exploration because the French sure as hell know how to drop a good beat.

Next week’s lineup is pretty close to ridiculous with Diplo and Green Velvet representing the US, so there is still time to exercise your dancing freedom the authentic Canadian way.

If this is your first time, take note: wear everything you own, show up early if you want to get in, and set your body free to the sounds of the underground.

For full lineup and tickets, visit Igloofest.ca
