The group, consisting of MCs Ritchie With a T, Stepa J. Groggs, and producer Parker Corey are “the rap game Talking Heads with a Mystery Science Theater-like commentary on art and culture,” states the LP announcement press release. And admittedly, it’s hard to fight that statement. Their lyrics are challenging, music videos break down barriers, and live performances often take things to all kinds of new places. Earlier this year, for instance, Injury Reserve held an anti-listening party where the audience was forced to sit on bleachers to witness the album via a $20,000 sound system in a brightly lit white room.

Injury Reserve is on the road and we’ve partnered up with Live Nation NYC to get two lucky readers to the show in New York City’s Gramercy Theatre. Here’s how you can see them on the house:

The prize: Two general admission tickets to the Injury Reserve and Slauson Malone concert at Gramercy Theatre, NYC on September 25th, doors at 7:00 pm. Ticket info here.

How to enter: Follow QuipMag on Instagram, like and comment on this post with who you’ll take to the show using hashtag #IRNYCxQUIP. The winner will be contacted via DM on Instagram with further details. The contest will run September 8, 10 pm to September 19, 10 pm.

Bestival had originated as a boutique festival in England by co-founders/partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved and Creative Director Rob da Bank. The founders set on a mission to reinvent the independent music festival and have won numerous awards for their efforts.

This year Bestival is going to invade Canada’s Hanlan’s Point Beach, Toronto Island on June 12 and 13, 2015. Featuring performers from across the globe the line up announcement undoubtedly made waves across the province and beyond.

The festival has proven to be an “undisputed leader when it comes to off-the-wall production” in the UK and for the Canadian edition the organizers are promising more than just a festival, in their own words this is going to be “a creative wonderland.” In the introduction Bank said they were beyond excited to take the festival outside of UK: “We’ve spent 12 years working up to this moment and are so proud to be teaming up with Toronto to launch the good ship that is Bestival overseas.”

The headliners are Florence and The Machine and NAS, who are both touring throughout the festival season with their return productions. What we are most excited for here at Quip is the subsequently following leftfield acts: Flume, Caribou, SBTRKT, ZHU, and Jamie XX, just to name a few.

Bestival has a potential of becoming Toronto’s counterparts to major festivals like Osheaga and Lollapalooza. We cannot wait to see what the UK crew has brought for us and to keep the excitement going we are giving away a pair of Bestival passes to one lucky fan. It is easy. It could be you.

You can enter to win a pair of passed to Besitval Toronto using one of the methods listed below:

1. Tell us you want to go to Bestival Toronto by tweeting at @QuipMag using hashtag #WinBestivalTO and following @QuipMag on Twitter.

The two groups who have made it their mission to spread electronic dance music to the humble people of the world, Electronic Nation Canada and Destiny Events, are coming together August 17 for a night of heavyweight magical beats – Destiny 20 Year Anniversary Party with the one and only Andy C.

As one of the key players in the drum and bass movement Andy C, aka The Executioner, has repeatedly been named the king of the genre and not without reason. At the young age of 16 he founded Ram Records on money he borrowed from his uncle. The first record, Sour Mash EP, became an instant success and neither Andy nor his uncle ever looked back.

If we had to take a wild guess we’d say the Kool Haus this Saturday will relive rave like no one has done in this city in a while. But no guessing is necessary, all parties involved know exactly what they are doing when it comes to EDM and the trusty hands of a very talented DJ will make Destiny 20 Year Anniversary Party a raging wave of unstoppable, throbbing bass beats.

Contest: In light of this thrilling celebration we are giving away a pair of tickets. Are you feeling lucky?

How to win: Tell @QuipMag via Twitter that you want to go to the show and mention, “@ANDYC_ram @destinyevents #AndyCTO” in your tweet. Don’t forget to also follow @QuipMag.

For those of you who are not into Twitter you can comment on this post and tell us that you’d like to party with Destiny and Andy C.
