Are you ready for some warm and soulful tunes to spice up your summer playlist? Well, you’re in for a treat.

NxWorries, the dynamic duo composed of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, have just dropped their highly anticipated album Why Lawd? This release marks the return of NxWorries, eight years after their debut album Yes Lawd! which became an instant cult classic.

While it’s been a long wait since their first album, the time apart has only made their reunion sweeter. Anderson .Paak has soared to global superstardom through his solo career and as part of Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. Meanwhile, Knxwledge has cemented his legacy as one of the great beatmakers of our time, with a Grammy Award and collaborations with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt.

If you loved Yes Lawd!, you’re going to fall head over heels for Why Lawd?

This album captures the essence of NxWorries’ signature sound, blending soulful beats and smooth vocals that transport you to a world of laid-back grooves and introspective lyrics.

The duo’s chemistry is palpable, and the album delivers a futuristic R&B dopamine hit.

The Tracks You Need to Hear

Let’s talk about some standout tracks. The opening track, “ThankU,” features Dave Chappelle reflecting on gratitude and recognizing success as a blessing from God. This track sets a tone of humility for the rest of the album and offers a warm welcome to listeners.

My personal favourite, “86Sentra,” is incredibly addictive and perfect for replaying endlessly as it’s only a 1.37 minute long track. Its captivating instrumentals pair seamlessly with .Paak’s effortless flow, showcasing his playful style. The track’s nostalgic vibe makes it ideal for blasting during a late-night drive.

FromHere” featuring Snoop Dogg and October London is a must-listen. It combines a smooth beat with a catchy, soulful hook sung by October London and confessional vocals from .Paak. Snoop Dogg closes out this track with an existential verse, offering food for thought to listeners. His spoken word-style verse perfectly completes the song, leaving listeners with plenty to ponder.

KeepHer” featuring Thundercat truly shines with .Paak’s witty and heartfelt lyrics, delivered through his distinctive, raspy vocals. The track stands out with its memorable line, ‘You know that the money won’t keep her,’ capturing the essence of the song’s message.

The combination of .Paak’s lyrical sincerity, Thundercat’s smooth vocals, and the production’s looped guitar licks create a standout moment on the album.

Where I Go” featuring H.E.R. is laid-back and groovy, with a melody that sticks long after the song ends. H.E.R.’s warm vocals complement the track perfectly, and the catchy chorus captures the excitement of starting a new relationship. The song as a whole explores the new fascination that comes with being in a relationship, a topic many can relate to.

Lastly, “Daydreaming” showcases Knxwledge’s impeccable production skills, creating a dreamy soundscape perfect for losing yourself in thought. With an 80s-sounding drum kit and a chord progression that feels like you’re listening to an oldie, NxWorries effortlessly bends genres.
