Dreams come true with Sueños Music Festival return
In May 2022, the inaugural Sueños Music Festival took place in downtown Chicago to great success. The weekend was a celebration and unification of Latino culture. Having heavyweights such as J Balvin, Ozuna and Jhay Cortez set the tone for the rest of the year earning Sueños Music Festival the title as the lead kick-off for the festival season in Chicago. Its return has a lot of hype to live up to and everyone is eager to see what’s in store this year. Here are some of the artist’s fans can be excited to see come May.
The legendary duo, Wisin Y Yandel, will main event on the first evening. They easily had one of the best performances last year making the crowd light up from their plethora of hits like “Rakata”, “Pam Pam”, “Mirala Bien” and so much more. However last year Wisin Y Yandel also announced their retirement as a team spanning over 20 years after the release of their final collaboration album La Ultima Mision. While a documentary detailing both individual’s life is scheduled to come out later in the year, fans will definitely not want to miss any opportunity to see these reggaeton pioneers together live perhaps one last time.
Another artist fans are happy to see coming back this year is Myke Towers. The singer was used in the charming original promotional video announcing Sueños Music Festival alongside Chicago Mayor Lori Litefoot. After the success of the event and his captivating performance, it’s great to see Myke Towers becoming a familiar face at the big showcase. Also, rapper El Alfa is back continuing his juggernaut momentum after a stellar 2022 including album releases Sabiduria and Sagitario.
One of the best reveals to this year’s lineup was the announcement of Ivy Queen. For over 20 years, Ivy Queen has been a force to be reckoning earning herself the nickname, “The Queen of Reggaeton.” With bangers like “Quiero Bailar” and “La Vida Es Asi”, the multi-platinum recording artist has accumulated awards including Lo Nuestro Awards “Musical Legacy Award”, Billboard Women in Music “Icon Award” and was inducted to the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. Additionally, Becky G will be making an appearance during the weekend. The Latina superstar has many fans looking forward to seeing her execute tracks off her sophomore album Esquemas.
Other legends set to appear are Nicky Jam and Acrangel. Both are stables of the Reggaeton scene making their individual debuts over a decade ago. For singer/actor Nicky Jam is been a while since he’s been on stage so it’ll be great to see him headline in his triumphant return on a big platform. While rapper Arcangel is coming off the success of his latest project SR. Santos and his multiple collaborations with artists like Bad Bunny and Farruko. Speaking of great singers featured, Chencho Corleone is riding high on songs like his single “Desesperados” and being on Bad Bunny’s track “Me Porto Bonito.” His distinct vocals live will absolutely be worth the admission.
The second year of the Sueños Music Festival is shaping up to be special. There are plenty more artists to witness like Feid, Grupo Firme, PaoPao, and DJ performances in between. Fans can’t wait for warmer weather to be outside surrounded by Latin pride, with a drink in their hand dancing the night away. Sueños Music Festival takes place in Grant Park on May 28th & 29th. Early Access tickets go on sale February 2nd with tickets expected to go fast.
