Costa Rica’s underground music festival Ocaso reveals lineup
Costa Rica’s music festival Ocaso returns for its 8th edition Playa Hermosa, Jacó. Over the years the festival has become a corner store of CR’s vibrant music scene and this year is no exception.
Scheduled for Friday, January 31 – Saturday, February 1, 2025, next to one of Costa Rica’s premier surf beaches the festival program will showcase expertly-curated house and techno talent. The early lineup announcements include the likes of Black Book Records label boss Chris Lake and underground trailblazers The Martinez Brothers, Brazilian selector Vintage Culture, techno duo Kasablanca, rising house star Riordan, Afrohouse tastemaker Maz, and Space Miami resident DJ Layla Benitez, alongside many talented local Costa Rican artists.
In addition to robust music programming Ocaso will also shine a spotlight on Costa Rica itself with experiential excursions and curated group tours. The tours will take place days after the festival and venture into some of the country’s most idyllic locations, from the Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna and hot springs to the natural wonders of Manuel Antonio and Corcovado National Park.
Ocaso has always focused on creating an inclusive underground culture and safe space where everyone feels welcome. The festival is rooted in the principles of PLUR—Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect—which remain central to its ethos. Ocaso Festival creates a festival atmosphere that encourages freedom of expression and aims to ensure that everyone feels loved and free to be themselves.
