Album Review: Gold & Youth “Beyond Wilderness”

image

by Sarah Young

Beyond Wilderness is the debut album from Vancouver-based band Gold & Youth. With 11 songs that have unique sounds, this album is a sure crowd pleaser. From “Young Blood,” which sounds like it could almost be a dance hit, to “City Of Quartz,” which is a mellow, get-you-thinking type of song, to “Jewel” which starts off kind of mysteriously, bringing the listener to feel the music instead of just hearing it.

This album has a knack for creative lyrics and innovative sounds. It feels very fresh and new, like you might feel after working out: just good. It’s evident that futuristic technology sounds can be heard through the music. It gives a new feel to the way one looks at alternative music. You might consider popping this in your car while driving or simply relaxing at a buddy’s place and cracking open a few cold ones.

Gold & Youth is certainly one band to keep your eye on. With the chill tunes they’ve created, they are sure creating a name for themselves.
