This year marks the 3oth anniversary of KUUMBA, Toronto’s largest Black Futures Month festival. The festival will take place at the Harbourfront Centre from February 1st to February 28th, 2025

The festival celebrates the creativity and artistic expression of the city’s Black diaspora through a series of events including live music, theatre, dance, spoken word, breakdancing battles, film, and more.

According to the festival organizers to celebrate KUUMBA’s 30th anniversary, this year’s edition “honours the Black journey to liberation and focuses on healing through the arts to challenge and address existing stereotypes, while simultaneously uniting the community and sparking exchange around the creative and intellectual achievements of the Black diaspora”.

The music programming includes a Bob Marley Birthday Tribute on February 6th, Late Night: A Jamaica Mi Come From! party on February 7th, a Rock Harder breakdancing competition on February 15th and 16th, and an Intro to Breaking Workshop on the 16th.
