Awkwafina releases video for “Queef”

Awkwafina is a response to all the criticism we’ve been laying at hip hop. The young rapper subverts with a touch of nonsense and humor. Her breakout came with the necessary “My Vag,” an ode to the gloriousness (presumably) that is her vagina. Mission accomplished.  Awkwafina, Queens native (the most diverse borough of NYC and home to Run-DMC) is continuing the legacy of brilliant, almost revolutionary lyrics over beats she produces herself. That’s right, each track is one hundred percent in house.

“Queef” continues where “My Vag” ended, embracing conversation about vaginas. The video gives us an aggressive Awkwafina encouraging an embarrassed and uncomfortable queefer to just embrace her ability. The rapper acts fairy godmother (of Queef) while dancing crazily in the background. There are some nods to rap that’s mainstream (“Queefs in the trap, queefs in the trap”) and some flat out ridiculous ownage (“I queef across America/Pledge of Allegiance”).

“Queef” is the first single off her soon to be released project Yellow Ranger.
