Iceland Airwaves has unveiled over forty additional acts for its 27th edition, taking place in Reykjavík from 5th–7th November 2026. The festival continues its reputation as one of the world’s premier new music showcases, blending international talent with a strong commitment to Icelandic artists.

Headline additions

Among the newly announced international acts, London’s Heartworms stands out, riding high on the acclaim for their 2025 debut album Glutton For Punishment, which earned five-star reviews from NME and DIY Magazine. Fellow Londoners The Itch make their Icelandic debut on the back of a packed run of UK basement shows, while neo-soul veteran Jamie Woon brings his acclaimed back catalogue to Reykjavík.

Icelandic talent at the core

As always, homegrown artists are central to the lineup. RAKEL, winner of the 2025 Iceland Airwaves PLUS Award, returns to the festival after a year of international showcases in New York and Wales. Electro-pop project SCAM, from composers Herdís Stefánsdóttir and Salka Valsdóttir, and Andervel, the folk-leaning project of Mexico-born, Iceland-based artist José Luis Anderson, also feature among the local highlights.

Beyond the stage

The festival extends well beyond its showcase performances. Special events at Reykjavík’s waterfront concert hall Harpa will feature Shygirl, The Streets, and Daði Freyr with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. A two-day industry conference on 5th and 6th November will tackle topics including human curation in the age of algorithms and how smaller music markets continue to produce outsized global talent.

SCAM will also preview the festival at a Taste of Iceland showcase in New York on 1st October, at Pianos on the Lower East Side.

Early bird tickets start from 10,900 ISK (approximately £65 / $87), with travel packages available. Learn more and purchase tickets at icelandairwaves.is.
On June 6th, Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square will transform into a festival ground for TOgether for Toronto Healthcare, a free, daytime wellness festival and evening concert featuring a curated lineup of world-renowned Canadian artists: Feist, Alessia Cara, Broken Social Scene, and Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip.

At a time when Torontonians are looking for ways to connect, show pride, and ensure a vibrant future, TOgether offers a simple idea: show up and make it count. Designed to be more than a single day, it’s the start of a new platform for Torontonians to come together each year in support of a healthier, more connected city.

Powered by MRG Live, TOgether launches as a city-wide rallying moment. With a goal to raise over $1 million in support of UHN and Michael Garron Hospital Foundations, it’s an opportunity to turn civic pride into lasting impact by supporting our hospitals that keep Toronto healthy, resilient, and moving forward.

“Toronto is a city that has always shown up for each other and for what matters,” said Adrian Rocca, Founder & CEO of Fitzrovia and Chair of the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation. “TOgether is about channelling that energy into something tangible as we support the hospitals and healthcare workers who are there for all of us every day. As our population continues to outpace our healthcare infrastructure, investing in these hospitals has never been more urgent. Our ambition is to build something enduring, a moment each year when the city comes together to give back. It reflects the same mindset at Fitzrovia, where we build communities that support wellbeing and help shape a more livable city.”

“At MRG Live, we believe that live events have the power to bring people together in ways nothing else can, and TOgether is exactly that,” said Matthew Gibbons, President & Founder of The MRG Group, parent company of MRG Live. “As a proudly Canadian company, based in Toronto, it means everything to us to be part of an event that celebrates the spirit of this city: our generosity, our community, and our commitment to one another and we’re honoured to bring that to life on June 6th. This is about more than a concert, it’s about what we can build together for Toronto.“

Funds raised through TOgether will directly support UHN and Michael Garron Hospital. At the forefront of global care, UHN was recently ranked the #2 hospital in the world, driving breakthrough research, training the next generation of medical leaders, and delivering complex, life-saving care. Michael Garron Hospital serves one of the most diverse areas in the country and is deeply embedded in the fabric of East Toronto, championing compassionate, community-based care for its fast-growing population.

Free admission, no tickets required.

Mad Cool Festival marks the countdown to its tenth anniversary with new lineup additions. With just five months to go, the festival continues to release updates that build the excitement for what promises to be one of the most special editions in its history.

To start, six new bands have been added to the line-up. They are the winners of the 11th edition of Mad Cool Talent by Vibra Mahou, a programme created by both brands to spotlight emerging talent.

Candela Gómez, one of the most promising up-and-coming artists, will take to the stage on 9 July, bringing her fresh and vibrant style to the festival’s most pop-focused day. The 10 July programme, with a more rock-driven approach, will feature standout acts such as Georgian band Tape Visitors, alongside the energy of Los Blody and Babylon. Completing this round of additions are Bad Tomato and Break The Senses, from Portugal and Málaga, respectively, who will showcase their full power and intensity on stage.

Mad Cool Festival is fast approaching, and tickets are selling quickly. The festival has warned on social media that only a limited number of tickets remain, so those still considering the four-day experience should act now to avoid disappointment.

One of the main highlights of the festival’s tenth anniversary is the exclusive presence of a number of international artists. Foo Fighters will return to Spain for the first time since 2017, performing their only show in the country. In addition, Moby, Florence + The Machine, Pulp, Halsey and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will deliver eagerly awaited performances that can only be seen at Mad Cool Festival.

Mad Cool Festival will take place from 8 to 11 July 2026 at the Iberdrola Music venue in Madrid. Festival passes and single-day tickets are still available at madcooltickets.com.

Ryan Castro’s SENDÉ is a Caribbean love letter to his roots and my personal favourite album of the year. Throughout the project, he authentically blends reggae, dancehall, afrobeats and reggaeton into a vibrant kaleidoscope of sounds. The album also serves as an ode to his heritage in Curaçao, a tribute paid through his lyrics, musicality, and thoughtful collaborations. The song “BOMBASTIK<3” was my ultimate favourite and was a high-energy collaboration with Blaiz Fiyah and Tribal Kush. This year also marked Castro’s first major headline world tour, the “SENDÉ World Tour.” I was fortunate enough to be invited, and it was my favourite concert of the year. He brought the Caribbean vibes to every city and had backup dancers to further bring the SENDÉ theme to life. Castro’s evolution is evident sonically and visually, fueled by a meaningful reconnection with his mother during the creative process. If you’re ready for a journey through the sounds of the Caribbean, this project is as much for you as it was for me.

Eric Mura: Greg Freeman, Burnover

In a year that saw the influence of alt country take center stage in the American indie music scene, with the rise and proliferation of acts like MJ Lenderman and his work with groups like Wednesday and The Snocaps (a collaboration with Waxahatchee and her sister Alison Crutchfield) the real standout came not out of North Carolina or Alabama, but from 1,000 miles north in Burlington, Vermont. This year, Greg Freeman followed up his 2022 debut, I Looked Ou,t with a 10-track skipless album that pushed the boundaries of mainstream sound with his warbling voice and big band sound. Burnover is a steam-powered album with lyrics that overlay fire and ice one after another until the resulting pressure bursts forth in explosive avalanching crescendos. Many of the songs sing of feverish love that now sits broken in the winter snow.

Freeman prescribes for the heartache either a running appointment with your bartender, smashing the windows out of cars lining the street, or burning the furniture to keep the darkness away. The images he conveys through his thickly poetic lyrics are at once beautiful and haunting. If his lyrics are what keep you listening, is a sound that entices you to invite him in. His voice carries what sounds like a traditional country twang, singing from his nose and the back of his throat, but instead of letting his voice round out the sounds like Hank Williams would, he lets it rattle and shake around his throat. The effect is a unique, almost keening sound that lacks much predictability but keeps you hanging onto each word. His band creates an enormous sound that nearly teleports you to a barn house stage. He replaces the traditional reliance on the slide guitar with layers of horns, strings, and keys. Each song carries a familiarity of the genre it represents, but at each place Freeman and his band could find to deviate, they did. Bonus points from me as they reported that they recorded some of the tracks live as a band, and that has to be my favourite recording style on the planet.

Danyyil Nosovskiy: ROSALÍA, LUX

LUX feels like the work of an artist fully in control of her direction. ROSALÍA embraces restraint, using space, careful phrasing and melody. whether she is singing in Spanish, Catalan, Ukrainian or English to shape each song rather than relying on excess. The album moves deliberately, incorporating flamenco influences into modern production without overdoing it. What makes LUX my album of the year is its quiet confidence: it never demands attention, but it holds it. The more time you spend with the record, the more it reveals, proving that artistic growth does not need volume to make an impact.

Danyyil Mosovskiy: Machine Gun Kelly, Lost Americana

With Lost Americana, MGK delivers his most grounded and emotionally direct record to date. The album feels lived-in, shaped by memory rather than momentum, and it leans into storytelling with a clarity that has often been missing from his work. There’s a worn, reflective quality about youth, regret, and the search for belonging that’s a common theme in all the tracks. And it feels honest rather than performative. What sets Lost Americana apart is its sense of place and purpose, capturing an artist embracing where he’s been and choosing vulnerability over volume.

Niall Fitzgeral: Jim Legxacy, black british music

Released in July on XL (Legxacy’s debut for the label after years of honing his reputation in the London underground scene), black british music puts Legxacy firmly on the map as a leader of the next generation of rap and hip hop voices not only in the UK, but across the globe. Several tracks (“Stick”, “Father”, “06 Wayne Rooney”, “I Just banged a snus in Canada Water”) already sound like classics, toeing the line between contemporary chaos and a classic rap feel. Black british music manages to feel both extremely relevant and of the moment while also having a tinge of nostalgia throughout. The hype man doing the intros to tracks reminds of a bygone era of downloading mixtapes off of DatPiff, and the whole record has an element of taking the best of the past and pushing things forward. Legxacy has a pretty yet gritty voice. He utilises incredible samples. One could envision hearing the tracks in the grime of a basement party just as well as on the terraces of a football ground, and it would make total sense in both contexts. Incredible ad-libs throughout. black british music will continue to grow in stature as the rest of the 2020s roll by, but it already feels like an instant classic.

Kateryna Topol, Romain Garcia, EURÊKA!

Another signature sound release from Anjunadeep, Romain Garcia’s EURÊKA! works well from day to night, much like the infamous Millennial office-friendly club outfit, except tonight we’ll opt for a much more comfortable shoe. The album is a journey through Romain’s transformative breakthrough summer, and as far as debut albums go, this one tells a cohesive story hard to find a fault in. The sound is reminiscent to that of Ben Böhmer and Tinlicker, perfect as summer soundtracks (“Lost in Bisca,” “Next To You“) sprinkled with songs that will heat up a late-night dancefloor in euphoria-induced morning (“Eurêka!,” “Heya“).

Fans can also catch heat from DJ Smokey and Shadow Wizard Money Gang – the hyped, Skrillex-backed collective – plus local trance and acid techno favorite Cult Member, Montréal’s bass crew Musik Me Luv with Dick Lee, nad, and Pleurire, and the techno-forward collective OCTOV, featuring BitterCaress, KORVN, and Manolow.

“I read and watch a lot of science fiction, and I’m obsessed with the idea of a thing being in different places at the same time,” Little explains when discussing the meaning of the song. “In Orbit” plays with this idea lyrically, while using echoes and the spaces in my playing to suggest the great distance between lovers who, for various reasons, can’t be together.”

Son Little is currently on tour with Larkin Poe, crisscrossing Europe with upcoming shows in France, Munich, Warsaw, Madrid and more. He will also embark on a solo US run on November 29 with Candi Jenkins, and a March 2026 West Coast run has just announced this week. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.

Sudan Archives’ much-anticipated third album THE BPM drops this Friday, October 17th. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit, the rich culture of Black dance music in the latter two cities inspiring Sudan Archives to create what she calls “Orchestral Black Dance Music”. “A BUG’S LIFE” is perhaps the track on THE BPM to most explicitly reference Sudan Archives’ Midwestern roots and the dance music that gives this record its edge, with its house rhythm and backing vocals.

The song celebrates freedom, Sudan Archives envisioning herself “flying to the moon” and embodying another personality – chaotic, impulsive, and running away without looking back.

On THE BPM, Sudan Archives moves with style and grace through her most expressive, extroverted record yet. She has always used personas to translate her energy on each album – on Athena, she was a classical goddess; on her breakthrough album Natural Brown Prom Queen, she inhabited Britt, the Cincinnati girl with big dreams. On THE BPM, she introduces Gadget Girl, a technologically advanced musician, and imagines a dazzling, chrome-plated future in which we’re all tapped into our own sense of rhythm.

“No one can take away your rhythm from you – no one can take away your self-will,” she explains. The ideas she explores on the record all ultimately draw back to this one idea. “All those things can be your own power if you utilise them right.”

Sudan Archives tours the UK & Europe this November, before a major tour of North America to kick off 2026.
